We Idliwale started operating in August of 2019 in Baner, offering a simple south Indian menu and Idli with chicken, a recipe from Kundapur, a place close to his heart.

Abishek and Chirag are the co-founders and owners of We Idliwale.

As childhood friends, both went to the same school.

But at the junction of life, their ways got separated.

Abishek did his MBA in Singapore and started working at his father's real estate business in Goa. There, he also started doing bartending gigs.


He realized his true calling as a chef and decided to pursue it. He left his family business to train as a bartender in London and later as a chef at ICCA, Dubai.


After training, he got offers to work in hotels but wanted to work at restaurants. He came to know Nick and Scott were opening their restaurant named Folly in Dubai, and he sent them emails expressing his desire to work there. He was accepted, and after a year-long stint, he returned to India and started working at The Bombay canteen in Mumbai as a trainee sous chef.


Chirag got into the hospitality industry and was looking after the operations side.


At a certain point, they both wanted to start a business. Their paths collided yet again as Abishek sought him to oversee the operations side of the restaurant. Thus, We Idliwale opened its doors to the people of Baner in 2019.


In 2021, Neha Anand of Three-layer Hospitality, a multinational food and beverage company headquartered in Dubai, visited the We Idliwale outlet in Viman Nagar and liked our signature Idli with kundapur chicken.


She liked the menu and uniqueness and offered to invest in We Idliwale and joined as one of the partners.
